Situated in Murray Mallee region of South Australia between Loxton and Karoonda is the East Murray Area School. The small R-12 rural school had an enrolment of 50 students in 2010. East Murray Area School is the hub of the East Murray community, acting as a community centre and home for a number of different community groups.
East Murray Area School has the clear aim to engage students in learning so that they develop skills and knowledge to grow as confident and competent global citizens. The school pays particular attention to address the disadvantage associated with isolation and works collaboratively to ensure that East Murray students have access to a range of educational and cultural experiences.
Through our Vertical Home Group program students R-12 take on leadership and responsibility for areas of school programs and facilities thus promoting authentic and shared student voice. The Middle School students learn through hands-on inquiry and the Senior School students focus on their SACE and / or VET studies.
We encourage parent and community participation in all facets of their students learning experience. As such we have active an Governing Council, associated committees and Parents & Friends group.
